Description

The white wine hamlet of Dueñas Verdejo fermented in barrel  belongs to the denomination of Origin Rueda and is elaborated in the historic Bodega Caserío de Dueñas, which belongs to the wine group Hijos de Antonio Barceló.

Selection of grapes from old vineyards. Selection of vineyards of soft reliefs and slopes subjected to Atlantic winds located in the emblematic areas of Rueda: some with the typical gravelly soils, rich in calcium and magnesium, easy to work that provide that mineral character and weight in the mouth; and others with higher altitude, with more slate soils and a slightly different Verdejo clone that provide different and complex aromas.

After a rigorous monitoring of maturation, the harvest is done by hand, first thing in the morning with the cooler temperatures in small boxes of 15 kg. Selection of clusters in table. The must is extracted by means of soft pressing and a cold debourbage is carried out which helps to stabilize and clean the must before carrying out alcoholic fermentation in casks, where it remains in contact with its lees for 8 months.

Wood ageing time: 8 months. Type of wood: French oak barrels of different sizes, from 225 liters to 600 liters to provide complexity. Elaborated and bottled on the property.

Tasting note of Caserío de Dueñas in cask fermented

The cask-fermented farmhouse is a bright yellow colour with golden touches.

It possesses a nose of a very elegant subtlety, in which the minerality is potentiated. Citrus notes, grapefruit; Combined with creamy aromas and bakery souvenirs.

Intense flavor, dense, expressive, with great balance between fruit, acidity and wood. Great varietal tipicity. Round, full of flavor and long persistence in mouth.
