Numanthia is the flagship wine of Bodega Numanthia. The 2008 vintage was chosen as the Best Red Wine of Spain. In addition, Bodega Numanthia achieved 100 Parker points from the magazine "The Wine Advocate" with the Termanthia 2004.
It is an excellent red wine of the D.O. Toro made with the grape variety Tinta de Toro (100%).
The grapes from a single plot over 120 years old are harvested by hand and finally trodden by foot. Finally, this wine is aged for 18 months in French oak Bordeaux barrels.
Tasting Notes of Numanthia
The Numanthia wine has a dark red colour, bright and deep, with ruby iridescence.
In the nose it is intense and complex, offering several layers of aromas in a very lively nose: at the beginning we distinguish extremely intense notes of red and black fruits (blackberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, blackcurrants, cassis...), perfectly integrated with sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, vanilla...) and toasted notes.
On the palate, Numanthia has an impressive backbone of perfectly educated, velvety and ripe tannins that lead us through a full-bodied mouth combined with tons of lively fruit. A very long and elegant finish, with an extremely wide range of aromas: forest fruits, cocoa, toasted notes and spices, enhances the complexity and the completely handcrafted character of this extraordinary wine.
