Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru is a red wine made from Pinot Noir by Domaine Faiveley. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. The proportion of destemmed grapes and whole bunches varies according to the vintage. The wines are pumped over twice a day to extract the colour, tannins and aromas from the grape skins. After a vatting period of 15 to 19 days, alcoholic fermentation is completed. The wines are aged for 15 months in French oak barrels (30% of which are new oak) which have been selected for their fine grain and moderate toasting.
Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru Tasting Notes
The nose shows notes of black and red fruits combined with subtle woody and smoky notes. The palate offers the same rich, fruity aromas as the nose. This full-bodied wine has a velvety tannic backbone that gives a sense of warmth on the smooth finish.
