Lagavulin 16 years old is one of the most famous whiskies of Islay. Its potent and smoky flavor is excessive for many, while others learn to enjoy it until it becomes an exclusive pleasure.
The famous actor Johnny Depp, teetotaller, sometimes orders a dram of Lagavulin 16 years, and only smells it (so good it is). The Lagavulin 16 years is the driest of the whiskies of Islay, a classic of recognized prestige, although it should be clarified that it is not considered a drink for beginners.
Lagavulin Tasting Note 16 years
Lagavulin 16 years old is an amber whiskey.
Shows strength and refinement. Bergamot's scent surrounded by a sophisticated complex of sweeter, creamy and chocolaty aromas. In more time they resemble lemon and white pepper strokes. With water, smells include cereal and toasted walnuts but the smoky fragrance always returns.
In the mouth it is dry at the first moment, compensated with the sweetness of sherry. Then it develops oily, and particularly provides slightly brackish and peatic strokes that emerge in aggressive and sustained attack. The Lagavulin 16 years old leaves a soft tickle in the tongue. With water, the flavor is gently cleaned, bringing a sophisticated smoky taste.
Powerful and turbocharged end. Remember toasted sesame seeds and basil. With water it resembles roasted cumin and other Hindu spices.
