Macán 2012 Collection

Macán Red wine is born thanks to the Union of Benjamin de Rotschild and the Álvarez family that occurred twelve years ago. They decided to join to launch a new project with the aim of elaborating a wine at the level of expectations.

The Benjamin Winery in Rotschild & Vega Sicilia has been acquiring land and vineyards in La Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta for nine years in order to start this project.

Macán comes from the vineyards of the Tempranillo grape variety located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. This Tinto 100% Tempranillo aged for 15 months in French barrels of fine and superfine grain and, two years more in bottle. The result is a wine that represents the idiosyncrasy of Rioja through an excellent balance between fruit and wood.

Macán is made from Tempranillo strains between 35 and 90 years old and later aged for 15 months in French oak. It is a wine with an unusual elegance, powerful, elegant, expressive, velvety tannins and a unique characteristic, its minerality.
