Pago de Carraovejas El Anejón Magnum
D.O RIBERA DEL DUERO
Merlot Fine Ink tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon
Description
Pago de Carraovejas El Anejón is a red wine from the Ribera del Duero denomination of origin, elaborated by Pago de Carraovejas. It is a red wine made from a meticulous selection of fine red, cabernet and Merlot grapes and aged 12 months in French oak barrels.
The terraces of the El Anejón plot welcome the Carraovejas valley. Its uneven relief makes it a natural amphitheater in front of the privileged views of the castle of Peñafiel. It is one of the first terraced plots in Ribera del Duero and one of the few examples of terraced vineyards in the entire appellation.
The soil of its terraces has a very compact limestone-loam texture. 9.43 hectares of vineyard on austere soils with a sea each slope that ascends from 800 meters altitude in the lowest zone to 840 in the highest. The adjustment of yields in the vineyard and an extraordinary balance between the vines, the vintage and the soil distinguish the origin of this wine.
El Anejón is made only in exceptional vintages. After an exhaustive monitoring during the ripening cycle and after an initial selection in the vineyard, the grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes. The bunches go through a cold chamber and selection table where a second control of the bunch and a third of the berry itself is carried out. Careful vatting and separate vinification in small French oak vats seek to enhance the singularities of the terroir. The wine is aged in new 600-liter extra-fine grain French oak barrels for 12 months. For greater protection, the wine contains sul fitos.
