The Macallan Oscuro Estuchado

The Macallan Oscuro is sourced exclusively from oak casks that have previously contained Oloroso sherry. First, an unusually large number of these casks are filled, giving the whisky a deep, vibrant colour and concentrated flavour. Once the casks have reached optimum maturity, the alcohol content is meticulously reduced to 46.5% by the addition of natural spring water from wells on The Macallan Estate.

The whisky is then left to settle in casks for at least six months to allow the flavours to blend and harmonise. It is not further reduced in strength and is filtered at room temperature, rather than chilled, before being bottled and ready to be enjoyed.

The Macallan Oscuro Tasting Notes

Appearance: It has a dark, shimmering hue.

Nose: Aromatic bouquet of ripe forest fruits, dark chocolate, orange citrus notes, and fragrant creamy vanilla.

Palate: On the palate, delicate fruit flavours mingle with intense sweetness and spicy nuances. Hints of dried figs, ripe oranges and a touch of fresh apples are also distinguishable. The finish is deep and lingering, accentuated by a hint of warm wood with a subtle smoky touch.
