Description
Cesar Marquez Pico Ferreira is a red wine made from Mencía in the Bierzo DO by César Marque Pérez.
Pico Ferreira is a plot wine located in a place that honours its name. This wine, like the other wines in the line, aims to represent the place by intervening as little as possible in it. Respecting the traditional winemaking methods, where the use of stems, and not pumps, defined the wine.
César Márquez is the nephew of the famous oenologist Raúl Pérez who, with his support and that of his family, owners of the Castro Ventosa winery in Bierzo, decided in 2015 to make his own wines in a first harvest that resulted in a Godello from centenary vines from two small plots called La Salvación. Currently, he produces different plots of old vines where we find different varieties in addition to Mencía.
Tasting Notes by César Márquez Pico Ferreira
Aromas of ripe red fruits with very subtle toasted notes. On the palate the slate is expressed with character and friendliness. Complex and elegant.
