Description

This Balthasar Ress Trocken Rheingau Riesling represents the excellence of the Rheingau, a region defined by the majesty of the Rhine and schist and quartzite soils that provide an unmistakable minerality.

Produced by one of the founding wineries of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter), this wine transcends the standard category to offer a 'Grosses Gewächs' experience in the glass. Its profile is rigorously dry, sharp, and precise, designed for palates seeking uncompromising varietal purity. The estate's certified organic viticulture ensures that every nuance of the terroir is transmitted intact to the bottle.

On the nose, it displays a complex range of late-ripening citrus, white peach, and that 'petrol' (hydrocarbon) note so coveted in great German Rieslings, which will evolve magnificently over the years. On the palate, the acidity is vibrant and electric, acting as a backbone that supports a dense and saline structure. It is a wine for aging, capable of defying time, but which today offers an aristocratic freshness ideal for haute cuisine.

Tasting notes of Balthasar Ress Trocken Rheingau Riesling:

Appearance: Pale yellow with bright greenish reflections. Nose: Intense minerality, lime, green apple, apricot, and subtle smoky notes. Palate: Sharp attack, medium-high body, saline and persistent finish.

How to drink it?

Serve between 8-10°C in a Riesling or Chianti type glass. Decanting for 30 minutes is recommended if the vintage is recent to open up its aromatic complexity.
