Description

Avan Tinto is one of the most authentic and vibrant expressions of Tinta del País (Tempranillo) in the prestigious Denominación de Origen Ribera del Duero. Crafted by Bodegas y Viñedos Juan Manuel Burgos in the town of Fuentelcésped (Burgos), this red wine represents the perfect balance between family winemaking tradition and a minimal intervention approach. The winery, founded in 1996, bases its success on the recovery of ancient clones from pre-phylloxera vines that the founder's grandfather painstakingly grafted, preserving a unique genetic identity of the highest quality. Viticulture is managed entirely organically and biodynamically, respecting lunar cycles and eschewing synthetic chemical treatments. The harvest is carried out manually in 15 kg boxes to guarantee the integrity of the grapes. After a rigorous selection at the sorting table, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the wine is aged for 12 months in new, extra-fine grain French oak barrels.

Tasting Note Avan Tinto

Visual phase: Intense and brilliant cherry red color, high layer, with attractive violet flashes on the rim that denote its excellent youth and aging potential.

Olfactory phase: Very expressive, complex nose with great aromatic intensity. Ripe black and red fruits (blackberries, plums, blueberries) stand out in the foreground, intertwined with floral notes of wild violets, subtle spicy touches (black pepper, licorice) and an elegant toasted and balsamic background from its aging in French oak.

Gustatory phase: On the palate it is powerful, tasty and with a magnificent volume. A sweet, luscious entry gives way to a fresh and balanced mid-palate, thanks to a vibrant acidity. The tannins are mature, polished and well-structured. Long, persistent and deeply fruity finish, with mineral and spicy memories.

Value Points

  • High-Altitude Terroir: Vineyards located at an altitude of over 900 meters in Fuentelcésped, on limestone and clay soils that provide freshness and minerality.

  • Pre-Phylloxera Genetics: Made 100% with selected clones of ancient pre-phylloxera vines, preserving the purest essence of Tinta del País.

  • Respectful Aging: Aged for 12 months in new, extra-fine grain French oak barrels, without rigid classifications to respect the vintage.

  • Magnum Format: 1.5-liter bottle that guarantees a superb evolution, greater longevity and exceptional roundness in the glass.

Service Protocol

Recommended serving temperature: Between 16ºC and 18ºC. It is advisable to uncork the Magnum bottle approximately 30-45 minutes before consumption or to decant gently to allow the wine to oxygenate and display all its aromatic complexity.

Ideal glassware: Large format Bordeaux-type glass. Professional pairing: Excellent to accompany grilled red meats, traditional Castilian roasts (suckling lamb), small game stews, cured Iberian sausages and medium to long-cured sheep's cheeses.
