Description

Ortiz Bonito del Norte (White Tuna) Loins in olive oil, presented in a 400-gram glass jar, are an icon of Spanish gastronomy and highly versatile for any dish. Conservas Ortiz, with over 130 years of history and tradition, rigorously selects the finest Thunnus alalunga specimens during the summer harvest in the Cantabrian Sea. Faithful to their commitment to sustainability and respect for the marine ecosystem, each tuna is pole-caught, one by one, using traditional fishing methods that prevent animal stress and guarantee the highest quality. The whole loins are cleaned and hand-packed in the glass jar, allowing the integrity and characteristic pink color of this fish to be appreciated at a glance. Subsequently, they are bathed in olive oil. This oil not only acts as a natural preservative but also bestows an extraordinary tenderness upon the tuna. Like a fine wine, Ortiz Bonito del Norte evolves and improves over time; its maturation in the cannery’s cellar allows the flavors to integrate and the texture to become even more tender and juicy. Its versatility in the kitchen is infinite: from being the undisputed star of a garnish salad with piquillo peppers and spring onions, to being enjoyed simply on a slice of freshly toasted pan de cristal with a touch of tomato. Nutritionally, it is an exceptional source of high biological value proteins and Omega-3 fatty acids, fundamental for a balanced Mediterranean diet.
