Envínate Albahra 2024
D.O Almansa
Garnacha Tinta
Description
Envínate Albahra is, without a doubt, one of the purest, most authentic, and fascinating expressions of the Spanish Mediterranean terroir.
Crafted by the acclaimed Envínate project, formed by four passionate winemakers (Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos, and José Martínez), this red wine from the Almansa region (Castilla-La Mancha) has revolutionized the perception of wines from the area. It stands out for its fresh, vibrant, and deeply Atlantic profile, despite its Mediterranean origin. The name 'Albahra', which means 'small sea' in Old Castilian, honors the maritime influence that caresses these vineyards.
This wine is a masterful blend composed mainly of Garnacha Tintorera (also known as Alicante Bouschet), which provides structure, color, and unparalleled juiciness, complemented by a percentage of Moravia Agria, an indigenous grape with high acidity that balances the whole by providing tension and freshness. The grapes come from vineyards cultivated on clay-limestone soils at about 800 meters of altitude, worked under a philosophy of minimal intervention and absolute respect for the environment. In the winery, the production follows ancestral methods: manual harvest, traditional grape treading with a significant percentage of stems (30-50%), and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks. Aging takes place on its fine lees for about 8 months, without fining or filtering, and with minimal doses of sulfur.
The result is a natural, honest, and direct wine that captures the essence of the landscape. Buying Envínate Albahra is to ensure a bottle of one of the wines with the best quality-price ratio on the current wine scene, ideal for both collectors and those looking to start in the exciting world of minimal intervention wines.
