Description

Château Rocheyron is a true masterpiece born from the strategic collaboration and deep friendship between the legendary Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck (globally acclaimed as the creator of the mythical Pingus in Ribera del Duero) and the visionary Silvio Denz (owner of the famous Lalique crystal company and prestigious wineries in Bordeaux).

This collector's red wine represents the ultimate expression of the prestigious AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation of origin, a world-renowned terroir located on the iconic Right Bank of Bordeaux, France. The Château Rocheyron property spans just 8.45 hectares of exceptional vineyards situated on the coveted limestone plateau of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, a soil composed of lower Oligocene asteriated limestone that brings incomparable minerality, tension, and freshness to the wine.

The vines have an average age of 45 years, with some of the oldest Cabernet Franc plots exceeding 80 years of age, ensuring naturally low yields and an extraordinary concentration of fruit. Since 2014, the entire vineyard has been meticulously worked under the strict principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, guaranteeing maximum respect for the local ecosystem and the absolute purity of the fruit. This vintage in Bordeaux is considered by experts to be truly historic, characterized by a hot and dry summer that allowed for a perfect, homogeneous, and concentrated ripening of the grapes.

The final blend of this wine masterfully combines the opulence of Merlot with the structure and elegance of Cabernet Franc. Vinification is carried out with minimal intervention and meticulous temperature control in concrete and stainless steel tanks, seeking a gentle and refined extraction. Subsequently, the wine ages for 14 to 18 months in fine-grained French oak barrels (with 40-50% new wood), which gives it an impeccable structure and an extraordinary aging potential that will extend for decades.

Château Rocheyron  is a cult wine of extremely limited production (less than 10,000 bottles annually), destined for the most demanding collectors and wine lovers on the international scene.

Tasting Note of Château Rocheyron

Visual Phase: Deep and bright garnet red color, with purple flashes on the rim and a dense, stained tear.

Olfactory Phase: Nose of great intensity and complexity. Notes of ripe black fruits (plums, blackberries, and blueberries) stand out, intertwined with floral aromas of violets, touches of sweet spices (cinnamon, licorice), cocoa, mineral chalk, and a subtle, beautifully integrated background of noble wood.

Gustatory Phase: Powerful and elegant entry. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with a velvety texture and silky yet firm tannins. A vibrant acidity stands out, bringing freshness and balance, with flavors of black fruit, licorice, and a persistent mineral salinity.Long, refined, and very persistent finish.

Technical Specifications: Alcohol content: 14.0% Vol. Varieties: Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Aging: 14-18 months in French oak barrels.
