Description
The Fondillón Tesoro de Villena Solera 1972 is one of the most exclusive and legendary oenological jewels of Spain, protected under the Alicante Protected Designation of Origin.
Produced by the prestigious Bodega Las Virtudes in the municipality of Villena, this fortified wine represents the maximum expression of the winemaking tradition of the Vinalopó Valley. Fondillón is a noble wine unique in the world, historically recognized by European royalty and classified as a luxury wine by the European Union alongside Sherry, Port, and Champagne.
Its production is carried out exclusively from overripe grapes of the indigenous Monastrell variety, coming from old rainfed vineyards with very low yields. These vines grow at an average altitude of over 500 meters on limestone and clay soils, under a Mediterranean climate with a strong continental influence that favors an exceptional concentration of sugars and acidity.
The production of Tesoro de Villena follows an ancestral and rigorous process: the grapes are harvested late in late autumn, allowing them to raisinate on the plant itself. The fermentation takes place naturally and slowly, reaching its high alcohol content (17% vol.) without the need for fortification or the addition of wine alcohol. Subsequently, the wine is aged through the traditional system of criaderas and soleras in centenary American oak casks. The mother solera of this Fondillón was started in 1972, transmitting its complexity, heritage, and homogeneous character to each extraction.
Each bottle contains a unique blend of liquid history that has aged for a minimum of ten years, developing an unparalleled organoleptic profile. This wine is an authentic Mediterranean treasure, ideal for collectors and lovers of gastronomic luxury seeking to experience the living history of Alicante in their glass.

Long, persistent, and pleasantly bitter finish that evokes old oak wood.
