Alvar de Dios Les Vidres 2020
D.O Arribes
Doña Blanca, Treixadura y Verdello
Description
Discover Alvar de Dios Las Vidres, an exceptional white wine that redefines elegance and the expression of terroir in the Arribes del Duero region. Meticulously crafted by the visionary winemaker Alvar de Dios Hernández, this single-vineyard wine comes from a historic plot of just 0.6 hectares located in Villadepera.
The centenary Doña Blanca vines, aged between 80 and 90 years, sink their roots into volcanic soils composed of decomposed white and grey slate, rich in mica and quartz. This unique geology, combined with an altitude of nearly 800 meters and a continental climate with Atlantic influence, gives Las Vidres unparalleled minerality and vibrant freshness.
Vinification follows a philosophy of minimal intervention, with direct pressing and spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels, providing a creamy texture and fascinating aromatic complexity without masking the purity of the fruit. Its extremely limited production guarantees exclusivity. Whether paired with haute cuisine or enjoyed on its own, this masterpiece showcases the immense potential of forgotten varieties and ancient terroirs of Spain, securing its place among the world’s most distinguished white wines.
